Engineering

Gordon left school and commenced work in 1971. His first job was drafting with the MWD in Wellington's Project Office where he became the plumbing, drainage and hydraulics specialist.An animated gif of a person at a drawing board Gordon transfered back to Napier in 1974 and continued to work for the Napier Districts MWD.

He spent 6 months employed as a Graphic Artist with Brebner Print from mid 1977 then in early 1978, commenced working as an Electrical Draftsperson for the NCC's MWD.

Gordon moved to Auckland in 1981 and resumed drafting/engineering as a plumbing, drainage and hydraulics designer for the Auckland District MWD. In 1984, Gordon became a sole charge plumbing, drainage and hydraulics Design Engineer with the Auckland branch of Stephenson and Turner, Architects and Engineers.

Gordon left engineering in 1988 to pursue a career as a storyteller but still dables in engineering from time to time.
